Private Rented Sector FAQs

I’m under 18 or over 35 – Can I still take part in the project?

We’re afraid not.  The project is specifically funded for people who are between the ages of 18 and 35.  We’re not able to make exceptions to that.

I’m homeless now.  Can the project help me to find somewhere to live straight away?

No.  The project is set up to offer tenancy training and support, and to build on that with offering individual resettlement support to people who’ve been through the programme.  We don’t offer fast tracking, and we aren’t able to access emergency accomodation.

If you want to consider moving into our Hostel, information about that is provided elsewhere on this site (see the links on the left).

I’ve already done some lifeskills training at another project.  What does that mean for me?

We’ve chosen to set the project up with a clear focus on the tenancy training programme, and it’s essential that everyone engages with that fully.  We’re not able to offer the individual support to people who aren’t fully engaged in the other aspects.

If you’re already receiving support at another project, your worker there may be able to provide some resettlement support as part of their project.

Is the Private Rented Sector Project funded by Supporting People?

No – the present project is funded separately to the Supported Housing work that we do in Doncaster.  The project is run from our Community Centre in Wood Street and sits alongside our other work.

Can other projects refer clients to the Private Rented Sector Project?

Yes.  We’re open to clients aged 18 to 35 with low to medium level support needs.  There’s an application form on the client information section of this website.
