On Saturday 21st August a group of enthusiastic volunteers from Doncaster YMCA set up their stall for a busy day at Doncaster Pride 2010. After creating a fantastic stall full of posters, leaflets and colourful display boards volunteers Abbi Lunn and Edwina Chan prepared for a busy day of chatting to Pride go-ers about the benefits of volunteering with the YMCA.
.
As well as a variety of stalls, Doncaster Pride boasted a variety of other exciting activities to keep everyone entertained. A main stage hosted music acts, another stage with acoustic talent provided a fun atmosphere for the day.
Volunteers worked hard to spread the work of Doncaster YMCA and made sure its presence was known, giving away hats, bubbles and special pens! As well as chatting to 16-25 year olds, Abbi, Edwina and Youth Volunteering Officer Craig were expressing the importance of the Board of Governors and how individuals could, in contributing just 30 hours a year, help Doncaster YMCA with it's work with young people.
The change of venue to the racecourse this year meant that there were some new additions to Pride 2010, most notably the Drag Race!

After an action packed day, two tired volunteers and one exhausted staff member packed up their beautiful stall and headed home, leaving everyone else to enjoy the rest of Pride 2010.

Could you offer just 30 hours a year to help Doncaster YMCA develop its work with young adults? |
|
|
|
|
Contributing 30 hours a year to our Board of Governors would give you the opportunity to impact on our work. We're looking for people who can bring different views, a new perspective and their own unique contribution.

Our meetings focus on the YMCA's Governance issues; policies, finances and updating our forward plans.
There are also opportunities to learn about the YMCA’s day-to-day work, and to offer support as a ‘critical friend’ to our Chief Executive.
So long as you’re over 18, there’s no age barrier. We welcome men and women of all faiths and of none. Our present Board would be very happy to offer support to those who are new.
Your 30 hours, and your wisdom and experience, could make a real difference to young lives. Please consider joining us.

Alternatively, our Chief Executive, Louise Roffey, will be very happy to talk it all through further and provide more information. Do give her a call on 01302 342148 or email
